The poetry books are all SO beautiful. The illustrations pair beautifully with each poet's words. The "engage" portion along the side is a delightful addition. None of the questions are dry or solely comprehension-based, rather they inspire children and adults to connect with the poem in a creative manner. I simply cannot say enough about these books of poetry! Practically perfect in every way. —Kristin M.

We checked this out from the library and I loved it so much I had to buy it. I'd heard several of the names (like Stagecoach Mary), but knew little to nothing about the people or their feats and stories. The man who was the likely inspiration for the Lone Ranger was by far my favorite. Definitely the kind of person I want my kids reading about. Plus several illuminating fact pages about the West generally - my favorite here was the Mexican vaquero terms that turned into cowboy slang (ten gallon hat, buckaroo, lariat, and so on). —Andrea H.

I am a homeschooler of 3 kids and with everything going on in the year 2020 - from COVID to protests to racial tensions, I wanted to do a better job of educating my kids on the Constitution and their rights. This book hits the mark. Very easy to read and holds my kids’ attention as they absorb the material. I purchased a few other books on the Constitution, but this one exceeds my expectations. —Danade

Wow, this book is incredibly well done! I wish I had it when I was in primary school, or even in college! Though it is clearly written for elementary school age kids, I found myself engaged and learning as I read it. The formatting is brilliant. The left page gives the original text and the right page summaries it in "plain text" that is simple to understand. The backdrop is a similar mix of primary source artwork and colorful graphics. Also included are historical context, highlighted word choices, and how the mean affects us today. I highly recommend for budding social studies/history enthusiasts, or any young reader struggling to interpret the old texts with what they really meant. —Kinsey
